Another interesting post Mark.
i have to admit i was never a fan of Caretaker in the comics. Never liked the fact that GR had a "friend" who would help or explain things to him.
However the fact that Sam Elliot has the part and also that both Blaze and Caretaker dont really trust one another but are forced to help each other sounds much better and far more interesting.

Thanks MSJ. This was interesting. I also like the idea that J.B. and the Caretaker don't trust each other. But I must disagree with BIGGUN. Sorry, but I must! Caretaker was one of the most ambiguous characters in the comics and perhaps the 2nd most badass to G.R. himself. Yes, it was a bit annoying how boom out of nowhere he'd just show up and supply info. Perhaps in his 2nd appeareance when he pops up in the alley while Danny's talking with Adrienne. I don't know? I liked him and I'm sure Mr. Elliott will be excellent as the gruff mentor.

I would be extraordinarily excited if the next post on the G.R. Blog is "Mephistopheles"!

Do any of you guys remember Spawn's mentor, Cogliostro? Cogliostro who? He's such a ripoff of the Caretaker! My Goodness Gracious! How much Spawn "borrowed" from G.R. Hey, Carl (a friend of mine who loves Spawn), if you read this SPAWN HAS NOTHING ON THE RIDER!!!!)

I just love the Caretaker character.
He's a grumpy old man who spits and hits people with his shovel.
I just hope that the movie does him justice.

I loved the caretaker in the comics and felt he added something that was needed to the comic. They tried to do this with Dr. Strange, but it just did not work. This movie seems to be an amalgaham of all the GhostRiders, the bike belongs to a character named Vengeance (Who I loved). GR's design for the movie is the Danny Ketch Ghost Rider who, if you read the comic, is in fact Johnny Blazes younger brother. Sam Elliot is perfect for the Caretaker, who if I'm right thier playing him in a completely different way than the comic. (Sam may be the GhostRider on horseback in the preview.) I can't wait to see this movie!

I was wondering what kind of role the caretaker would play in this movie . This just seems to make things even more interesting . Thanks , Mark !

This movie will rock, but it needs to be rated r, take Blade and the Punisher and the Crow, all were successful movies but it they all needed to get over that pg 13 thing, at least think of doing a more adult version for dvd, thanx i cant wait!!!

Great post folks. It was short but, none the less, sweet. Nice to get a little insight on all these characters, Caretaker especially because he's such an ominous (and awesome) character both in the comics and now in the movie... so it seems.

BIGGUN: CT was more of a protector of the Ghost Rider legacy than a friend to Ketch/Ghost Rider. I was a huge fan of this, though I'm a huge fan of most of what was developed in the 90's serious so, I'm pretty biased I guess.

Anyway folks, great stuff! You guys continue to rock my world!

160 Days to go!!

While i disagree w/ Steve on Caretaker he is right about Coliostro being a rip off.
After some "digging" i found this info: Caretaker 1st showed up in GR #25 in August, 1992. While Coliostro showed up in Spawn #9, March 1993.
Just for anyone who might be interested :)

Steven i have to disagree with you. Caretaker is not an ambiguous character at all.

From the 3 trailers i've seen, including the face of the ghost rider, i think that this movie is gonna be the best with the cinimatography, cgi, and the stunning performance by nichalos cage, and its about time he played a super-hero.

p.s may i remind you i never read the comic book and i want to see this movie this movie, one more thing my complaments to the one that designed the ghost rider's bike

I've got an off topic question: Does anyone know what kind of motorcycle Nic Cage is riding in that graveyard scene? I figure it's custom but if anyone knows the manufacturer that'd be cool. Oh yeah, and Ghost Rider looks freakin' AWESOME! And Sam Elliot is the coolest dude alive, I think he'll nail Caretaker's part.

I've not been to a movie in many, many years. The one's I did see or waited til they came out on cable, 99% have been any thing with Sam Elliot in them. When this movie does come to the USA I will take my Sam Elliot look-a-like husband and go and see this movie. Sam Elliot is the reason I met my husband, because I was such a big fans of Sam's.And my husband looked just like him. We've been together 11 yrs. Thanks Sam , can't wait to see the movie.

Mephistopheles is Peter Fonda, I think... and I too would love to know what model that bike is...

Posted by: Jade on 01/28/07 at 09:07 PM
